Ocean Row Boats – New Build

On Saturday, the 31st of May, 2014, Fedor Konyukhov arrived in Brisbane, Australia, having completed a continent to continent rowing marathon from Concon, Chile, South America, in his 9m carbon rowing boat built by Demon Yachts. He had crossed the largest ocean on the planet solo, non-stop, unassisted and in a record time of 160 days.

The latest major row boat project we have been working on, with Fedor again, was to build another potentially record-breaking row boat. In this adventure he is attempting to row around the Southern Ocean single-handed and unaided. The boat we have built to attempt this epic challenge is 9m in length and fully constructed from carbon fibre and Kevlar. It is specifically designed to take the punishment that the Southern Ocean will no doubt throw at Fedor and the boat.

We wish Fedor all the very best for good luck and good rowing!

In February 2013 Charlie Pitcher, founder of Rannoch Adventures, an industry-leader in ocean and recreational rowing, set off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, bound for Barbados in “Soma”, his 6.5m carbon rowing boat, built by us at Demon Yachts. 35 days and 33 minutes later he arrived at his destination, smashing the World Record for a single-handed Trans-Atlantic row by an incredible 5 days!

What’s more, in 2018 Charlie’s boat, “Soma”, broke the world record for the fastest female solo and unsupported crossing of the Atlantic with Kiko Matthews on board, and then later in 2018 was being used for yet another crossing!
