Kite

Kite is a gaff sloop-rigged centreboarder with a light and airy two-berth cabin, a generous cockpit, light carbon spars and a weight that allows her to be trailed easily behind a family car.

The Kite has a sloop-rigged, deck-stepped mast with lightweight white painted carbon-fibre spars for ease of rigging and a varnished spruce bowsprit.

Mahogany varnished coamings around the cockpit offer protection and make a large spacious, sit-in cockpit. Teak hand rails on the coachroof and a moulded-in easy-to-clean non-slip finish help crew to feel safe and secure.

Four large cockpit lockers include dedicated outboard stowage that complies with boat safety scheme regulations. There’s a forward draining well for anchor stowage, mooring cleat etc, and an outboard well with hull infill, petrol storage and lid, suitable for outboards up to 6hp.

The twin bunk cabin has a satin white finish with varnished mahogany trim, giving an airy but traditional feel. Good lighting and ventilation are provided by two oval cabin side portholes, and two cabin front portlights.

The boat incorporates lockers for plate and cutlery stowage under the bridge deck plus ample storage space for personal and essential equipment. There is provision for a portable gas stove in the galley and a porta potty.

The rudder is an NACA sectioned balanced lifting rudder with an ash and mahogany tiller. The internally lead-ballasted centreboard is raised and lowered via a differential winch and easily operated from the cockpit.
